Overview
The GPIB-SPRC-S is an external IEEE 488 interface kit for the Sun SPARCstation SCSI port. The GPIB-SCSI-A is a full-function IEEE 488.2 Controller that interfaces 14 GPIB instruments to the SPARCstation from its external SCSI port. The NI-488.2M software is compatible with National Instruments software for other Sun workstations, so users upgrading do not have to alter their existing programs to use the GPIB-SPRC-S kit.

Hardware
GPIB-SCSI-A - The GPIB-SCSI-A can turn any computer with a SCSI port into a GPIB controller. The GPIB-SCSI-A implements the full range of GPIB Controller functions. It uses both normal and extended Talker and Listener, serial and parallel poll, service request, pass and receive control, and remote programming functions.

The GPIB-SCSI-A has a 256 KB RAM buffer. With this buffer, the SCSI bus is not tied up while the GPIB-SCSI-A communicates with GPIB devices. The GPIB-SCSI-A comes with an internal 100-120 VAC or 220-240 VAC power supply.

Cable - The GPIB-SPRC-S kit includes a 1 m GPIB-SCSI-A (SCSI-1) to SPARCstation (Sun SCSI Micro D50) cable.
